this past weekend, I discovered that zone sounds are no longer working for me, so I wanted to see whether anyone else is having this particular issue.
I haven't changed my settings on here or my computer, and I double checked to make sure flash was working. everything is fine on my end. anyone else experiencing this?

I forgot to say that I'm using this latest version of internet explorer, windows 7, and JAWS 14.

I have been told by several users that Zone sounds are working fine.
Try the reset again.

didn't work, but thanks anyway.

There was a post here that said if you put the zone in compatibility mode it works very well. I know it's around here as I used it to get sounds back for me and things have worked ever since then.

Heh. The site really needs to be updated. What about people who don't want to/can't use IE?

They aren't working for me either. Tried resetting them... when I'm not lazy I'll figure out the compatibility setting. Lol.

I knew I couldn't be the only one. thanks for posting, Ryan.

Press alt T. Arrow down to compatibility view.
Easy.

It is not the site update as to other browsers sounds working or not.
It is the plug in not working.

we shouldn't have to put it into compatibility mode, but thanks for the suggestion.

Many sites other then this one have not been updated.
Some shopping sites, Government sites, and you name it can and do work best in that mode.
In terms of accessibility, it is best to leave your site non updated in some cases as well.
Most do not offer sounds, but other features that could be hampered if they were updated.
Just a little information.

We're dealing with very old code here, and not all parts of it are even written in the same language, so yes, unless you figure out a way to light a fire under JJ's ass and get him to update the site, then sure, Compatibility mode is actually recommended.

I know about what you've mentioned, Wayne and Anthony. however, none of that changes anything from where I'm standing.
my reason for arguing against what most people are saying is because the sounds worked perfectly fine all this time, at least as far as I can say for myself. so, why they just randomly stopped working for some of us, and not for all of us, is beyond me.

Windows and IE went through an update.
If I had it to do, I'd first set it to the compatible mode.
Next, I'd reset the sound here.
If that didn't work I'd start from scratch and reset IE back to basics, then deo the other settings.
That should work.
I sort of feel you are trying to blame this glitch on the sight, and not you or others computers. Am I correct?

If you don't use IE, you are screwed. I have yet to figure a way to get Firefox to run with this if you want sounds, though have heard there is some sort of extention that might make it work.
Braille sense, the sounds don't work either.
when I used the PAC Mate (Who's IE is bassed off Windows CE, the sounds didn't work.)

Compatibility mode should work for those using IE. 3 things I have noticed if I add this site to the list of compatibility sites.
this is using IE11.
1. I never had issues where the sounds totally stopped but at times they didn't work before doing this. Putting it in compatibility mode fixed the sounds so that they work consistently every time.
2. there is no delay with the sounds. (i had experienced a delay where I'd get the QN before the sounder would play, when this site wasn't in compatibility mode.
3. The site doesn't constantly give all kinds of errors and crash IE like it did before.

Yep. That'll do it.
I don't use the sounds, so I don't run the site in compatible mode, but it is coder older, so this helps.
The feature is on browsers for a reason, because all sites don't always keep current with the latest no matter what site it is.

ok, does anyone know of a way to make the site not constently bug me about the sacurety certificates? Since I don't trust JJ to fix this at any point ever, I'd like there to be a way to have IE not constently worn me. I know it has expired. I would only want it for this site though, not all.

Post 18 by chelslicious (like it or not, I'm gonna say what I mean. all the time.) on Wednesday, 18-Mar-2015 13:46:11

Wayne, the posts I've made clearly state how I feel about this, so no further explanation is needed.

Post 19 by forereel (Just posting.) on Wednesday, 18-Mar-2015 18:33:58

Deal with the warning.
Here's why.
This site isn't a big deal as to the certificate, but others might be.
If you turn off the warning for this site, you also have disabled it for all, and that you don't want.
It is what 3 extra down arrows to get to the continue to the sight link?

Somehow, Johny, I'm not getting that anymore. My sounds work just by restarting the computer.

I got the same warning as somebody else mentioned, but that seems to have stopped now.
